Laura-Lee Hiscock has been a lover of animals since she was a little girl, bringing home injured and stray animals to her mother and wanting her to make it better.  She has carried that love for animals into her adulthood, owning 3 English Springer Spaniels and one Beagle herself.

Laura-Lee has bred, groomed and trained her dogs for dog shows and her pets are considered members of her family.  She is a member of the Canadian Kennel Club and of the Conception Bay Kennel Club.  Her experience with difficulty finding suitable boarding kennels and services for her own dogs, in addition to hearing from other dog owners their frustrations with trying to find the services they need, has led Laura-Lee to finally take the plunge and open up her own boarding kennel and grooming boutique out of Freshwater, NL.

She approached the CBDC Trinity Conception for support and, after demonstrating her commitment to this enterprise as well as a market demand for these services, she received a Small Business Loan, a SEED Capital loan and SEB support from the CBDC.

Happy Tails officially opened the doors of its brand-new, purpose built facility on February 25, 2009 and business is doing very well, growing steadily and meeting expectations.
