CBDC Trinity Conception

Tracy Byrd, and her sister, Rosemary Whiteway, had a dream – a dream to provide day spa
services to their small rural community that could rival any similar services offered in more
urban centres. They both worked hard and invested in their education so that Tracy has become
a professional hair stylist and Rosemary has become a professional esthetician.

Then they took the plunge and started to make their dream a reality. With help from the CBDC
in the form of a SEED Capital Loan as well as the Self Employment Assistance program,
Seaside Hair Studio and Day Spa opened to the public in Green’s Harbour and surrounding areas
in August of 2009.

Initially, hair styling and various esthetics treatments were made available such as ear piercing,
ear candling, body waxing, facials, pedicures, manicures, Tooth Fairy applications, body scrubs,
body wraps, relaxation massage, eyebrow tinting, eyelash tinting, make-up application, make-up
lessons and gel nails.

A few months after opening, the sisters included a Registered Massage Therapist as part the
business, Sara-Lynn Cumby. Sara-Lynn is also receiving support from the CBDC through the
SEA program.

So far the business is doing extremely well and providing second-to-none services to
Newfoundlanders choosing to live in a rural setting. CBDC Trinity Conception is proud to be
